From the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for your continued engagement with your child’s learning. The subject teacher evening earlier in November was another great opportunity for valuable feedback to continue to develop our students. Our next opportunity will be the mentor phone calls during week 49 and we look forward to that.

As you may know, as a school this year ‘creating challenge’, is one of our schools goals. This is something we also encourage you to speak to your children about. Do they feel challenged in class? What challenges did they face today? How did they overcome them? This is an important way to ensure each individual is working to their potential and by talking about it explicitly we encourage them to reflect on their own learning. It increases their awareness of how they can challenge themselves and the fulfillment can gain from it.

Covid-19 Update

Due to the new Covid-19 restrictions we are making some changes to adapt to this new situation.

Choice Days

Choice days which are held on Wednesday and Thursday 16 & 17 December will now be divided into two days for different grade levels. One at school and one at home.  As we are no longer able to do external trips which we often do for choice we are instead planning engaging choice activities for the students to complete at home for one day, then more hands on choice activities for students at school for one day. We hope that this will provide a better experience for all students who are able to fully engage in their choice activities.

Choice days will follow this schedule:

Choice Day 1

When: Wednesday 16 December 2020

Grade 4,5,6: Choice at school

Grade 7,8,9: Choice at home (study day)

Choice Day 2

When: Thursday 17 December 2020

Grade 4,5,6: Choice at home (study day)

Grade 7,8,9: Choice at school

Schedule Improvements

From Monday week 48 we are also making small improvements to students schedules. The aim of this change is to reduce congestion throughout the school. This results in minor changes to students' days. The new schedules will be handed to students on Monday week 48 and published on Schoolsoft as normal.

Stay home with symptoms

We want to remind all that during these times it is important that we all continue to follow the guidelines and keep students home when sick or with symptoms. We also want to remind students to login to schoolsoft and follow along with the lessons when at home to ensure they do not fall behind with their learning.

We thank you for your support with these changes and if we each fulfill our responsibility we can reduce the risk for all and keep the education of our students as our focus. Thank you for your support.
